Regulation (EU) No. 2650/2025 of the European Parliament and of the Council, officially published last 19 December, has significantly amended Regulation (EU) No. 1115/2023 on anti-deforestation (EUDR), postponing its date of application to between late December 2026 and mid-2027. Despite the lively debate of recent months among the competent EU authorities and the industry, the regulation continues to include bovine hides and leathers among the goods that will have to comply with EUDR requirements. However, in light of the recent amendments, the general compliance procedures have undergone significant changes, which will also affect operators in our supply chains.

The workshop will provide an overview of the recent amendments to the Regulation, explore their practical consequences for companies in the leather sector, and offer an update on the IT platform developed by UNIC/Lineapelle to support EUDR management for operators in the bovine hides and skins supply chain.

Programme:

  • Welcome and introduction
    L. Boltri (Deputy Director, UNIC – Italian Tanneries Association)
  • Update on the EUDR policy framework and possible developments
    G. Gonzalez Quijano (Secretary General, Cotance)
  • Overview of EUDR implementation procedures
    G. P. Geminiani (Legal Consultant, UNIC)
  • Supporting tools for EUDR management in the bovine hides and skins supply chain
