Lineapelle - LEM conference hall - Ponte dei Mari (pav 22 side)
Wednesday 26 September 2018, H. 2.00 - 5.15 pm
UNIC Concerie Italiane, the association of Italian tanners, COTANCE, the Confederation of national associations of tanners of the European Union, and CNR, the main public research structure in Italy, invite you to participate in this event focused on the theme of Product Environmental Footprint for the supply chain of leather and fashion, organised in collaboration with the European Commission.
In recent years, a wide range of deceptive methods, partial initiatives and opaque tools have been available to companies willing to market their product as "green". This element has led to confusion among customers and operators, becoming an obstacle to the dissemination of green products in the European market.
In order to overcome this obstacle, the European Commission launched the Single Market for Green Products project, characterised by the direct involvement of the European tanning industry. The scope of the initiative is to establish a unique method for assessing the environmental impact of the product, the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), and a set of specific rules for different industrial sectors, the Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR).
The aim of the event is to show the goals achieved by the leather sector and the fashion industry in this field, illustrating the future prospects in terms of certification and policy at European and national level and analysing possible synergies with similar tools that are already available on the market.
In addition to the aforementioned organisers, MIP Politecnico di Milano, Scuola Superiore S. Anna, Cycleco and ICEC, the certification institute for the leather sector, will contribute with technical speeches; a round table involving brands, tanneries, suppliers of equipment and chemicals will close the event.
The event is free and open to all the actors from the supply chain: brands, retailers, tanneries, manufacturers, chemical producers and other interested parties.
Please confirm your participation via email to: email@example.com
The event will be held both in English and Italian. A simultaneous translation service will be available.
